Simon Williams - a sense of place at Browns, Tavistock

This portfolio of photographs focuses on landscape details (or mini-landscapes) emphasising colour, light, pattern and/or detail - which may contain "clues" giving a suggestion of place, time, weather, season, etc.

From 5 March 2010 for several months.

The images were mostly taken on local Devon Wildlife Trust reserves and wild places around Dartmoor.

Simons' current photography interests stem from his experience working for various wildlife trusts and as a geologist and geographer with a love of place and an obsession with detail.

Plants and places are not named, encouraging the viewer to think of the image in its own right rather than as a representation of something they are familiar with.

Scale may be absent, focus may be limited and detail may be missing. You are encouraged to look closer and to find a sense of place in these images.

These archival quality prints are framed with acid free mounts, beech wood and clear glass.

Simon is a Member of The Devon Guild of Craftsmen, the contemporary crafts organisation based at Bovey Tracey. He also photographs gigs, cultural events and festivals and is interested in unusual commissions.

His exhibition 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 55 89 mathematics and nature features at the Ice House, Holland Park, South Kensington in London from Saturday 14 to Monday 30 August 2010.
