This summer Brown’s Hotel is offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and relax within the glorious rolling landscape of Dartmoor with a luxurious Brown’s picnic.The Brown’s team will help carry the picnic to your vehicle and provide a map that allows you to reach a secluded spot were you will be able to relax and enjoy, there is a pre packed Roberts radio for you to listen to, sunscreen just in case the English weather surprises us and a selection of summer games to play.

Stroll along the banks of the meandering River Tamar, where 365 acres of luscious rolling moorland lies, Browns Hotel can supply a gourmet treat picnic, whilst Devon provides an exceptional setting to while away the hours with family and loved ones.

The decadent picnic includes delicious treats from our South West larder including a West Country farmhouse cheese board, Devonshire strawberries and cream, a selection of finger sandwiches and Pimm’s jellies with cucumber cream, all presented in a beautiful wicker basket and laid out on a picnic rug. The Brown’s picnic costs from £65 and a variety of different menus are available.

Further wine tasting events Browns Hotel –

Tavistock and Charles Steevenson Wines have teamed up, keen to organise a series of casual wine and food evenings, A golden opportunity to sample the latest Charles Steevenson latest arrivals and new vintages in the most congenial surroundings with a chance to taste some excellent seasonal dishes paired with stunning wines, without the stuffiness normally associated with a wine dinner.

Over the coming winter months, we will be organising a variety of wine evenings, always keeping it casual and fun, but letting our passion for food and wine shine through. Steevenson Wines will be accompanied by visiting winemakers, as well as Charles being around for informative and entertaining chats about the wine, and their combinations. We welcome constructive feedback and suggestions for future events – let us know what you would like to eat / taste! All the above dishes will be starter size, or large tapas size.

 The cost for the evening will be £20.00 per person, including all food,wine and entertainment.

What to expect from the “Wine Tasting Supper Events”

Working in conjunction with our Wine Merchant, 'Charles Steevenson Wines', Browns Hotel is delighted to be hosting a series of ‘Tutored Wine Tasting’ supper events Our aim is to meet on the third Thursday of the month. With his extensive knowledge and vast experience, Charles will take us through the fundamental and intriguing aspects of the 'World of Wine', and hopefully de-mystify the complexities of wines, which can so often confuse. Charles will briefly explain 'Wine production, modern wine trends, and the intricacies of Food-Wine Pairing'. Prior to tasting, Charles will explain the rudiments of 'Wine Tasting' and how to get the most out of your wine.

Rest assured, great emphasis will be placed on actually sampling and scrutinising wines and comparing the grapes from different regions and regional variations. Once the informative and informal pre supper tasting is concluded the Maitre d’ will invite you to take your seats to be served the culinary delights Browns Hotel is renowned for, enjoying a sumptuous chefs seasonal four course set dinner menu comprising of –appetiser, starter, main and dessert.

The meal will be accompanied by flights of wine which have been selected to compliment the cuisine. It is important to book in advance and so that we know of numbers for catering and wine quantities. Please advise if a vegetarian option is requested or any dietary requirements in advance.

Moretonhampstead Festival of Food, Drinks and Arts  - 

This is the third year of the highly successful Moretonhampstead Festival of Food, Drink and Arts, which will take place on 5th March.

Browns Hotel, Restaurant and Wine Bar – Tavistock will be attending, together with 22 Mill Street Restaurant & Rooms - Chagford and also the new edition of Browns Vibe – an elite outside catering company – we look forward to seeing you on the day

The Moretonhampstead event is the first of the season’s food festivals, a celebration of the coming of spring. Last year the festival was attended by over 60 exhibitors and 2,500 visitors.

Phil Biggin of Browns Hotel and Glenn Duff of Jack Chams decided early in 2009 to set up a local representation of the Help for Heroes charity – this was kicked off in the Spring and included a raffle, a 20 mile walk across Dartmoor, sale of Help for Heroes goods and culminated in an evening of live music and entertainment at Jack Chams.

All the sponsorship and donations have now been collated and a total of over £5,000 has been raised for what is an ever-increasingly fantastic charity.

Tavistock Help For Heroes would like to thank The Tavistock Times for its support and coverage of the event, all the team who helped get this off the ground, all who took part in the walk and attended the event at Jack Chams and all who donated – this has been an amazing start to what we would like to believe will be a regular event here in the Town.

We would also like to put out a request for any volunteers to help us continue into 2010 with their ideas and help to run the events. Please contact either Glen or Phil - we would love to hear from you!

Evision Group productions will be choreographing two unique and professional shows which will run for 30 minutes each in the stunning orangery room showcasing the most exclusive of bridal gowns, bridesmaids dresses and formal mens wear and everything else you would imagine your perfect wedding to be made up of.

As well as amazing fashion you will be able to see, touch, taste and smell the most amazing of cakes, heavenly flowers, inspirational photography, exquisite stationery and designer Jewellery.We aim to take the pressure off you having to trawl the shops and showrooms, making endless calls and waiting on them sending brochures.
