 Angie Smith
Originally from SW London, Angie is now a local contemporary landscape artist with a colourful passion for Dartmoor and its surrounds.
Her love affair with the West Country began from walking the moors and coastlines with her husband. In 2006 they 'retired' to a 17th Century Devon Longhouse on the west escarpment of Dartmoor above Tavistock, restored the house and built a new studio.
From this stunning location Angie walks, studies, sketches and photographs the moody windy tors and sweeping valleys in this ancient landscape. The vast constantly changing skies that roll in from the Atlantic provide the important elements of atmosphere, whilst land form, colour and shape dictate the emerging composition of her contemporary style.
As new member of the Devon art community, she has exhibited locally for the first time this year, including the 'Drawn to the Valley' exhibition at Tavistock in August.
This informal exhibition in Browns Hotel presents a wider range of her work, where originals and prints are available.
