Mum, sister & I had a wonderful time with you - so refreshing to find such a great hotel with such exceptionally friendly & helpful staff with a good sense of humour too. Chef is pretty special too! Hope you are still keeping busy. My husband is looking forward to coming & trying you out for himself so watch out - trusting that I will be joining him as well !! Dear Browns, I hope this is an appropriate place to tell you what a superb break I enjoyed at your establishment recently. It was imperative that the hotel that my sister and myself selected for a nostalgic holiday for our Mum was able to contribute to her enjoyment significantly. Thanks to your wonderful, professional, warmhearted staff and the lovely old building itself, lovingly decorated, immaculately maintained and with great beds...our Mum had a terrific time. Your chef produced dishes that were an absolute joy to behold and an experience to taste. Everything we ate was cooked to perfection, superbly presented with wonderful marriages of ingredients...as my Mum said 'meals to remember'. Your hotel has a perfect balance of quality, professionalism and warmth. Every single member of staff was so kind and made a genuine effort to make my Mum's stay as pleasurable as possible. She will treasure her recollections of this holiday for several reasons...however I am indebted to you for your part in providing her with many happy memories. My thanks to every member of staff, what a team!

 Hi, i stayed in the hotel Thursday night whilst in the area for business. I am not normally in the habit of contacting hotels, but i think in this instance, it was a must.
Given i was travelling alone sometimes it can be boring and lonely however i must say all of the staff made me feel very welcomed and i felt like i had stayed with you on numerous occasions.
The dinner i enjoyed in the restaurant was tremendous, a real delight, compliments to the chef.
The hotel is a gem, and all of the nice little touches really do make a difference between the usual corporate hotels i am used to staying in.
I will definitely be back, - My wife is insisting on a trip later this summer!

I am not in the habit of writing reviews, but after spending a long-weekend in both Browns Tavistock and 22 Mill Street Chagford, I've felt compelled to do so! Both hotels manage to combine the extremely rare ability to be able to provide exceptional food, accommodation, with the best service imaginable. Always friendly, obliging and professional. The tasting menus are a must! The signature venison dish is worth traveling many-a-mile for, and we have. Its exceptional value too..............
I'd urge anyone looking for somewhere for a weekend retreat to visit either hotels, but be warned - you will not want to leave, and keep coming back! This is a unreserved and unconditional recommendation for an outstanding boutique hotel, with some of the finest food available!  A special thanks to John for the magic he creates in his kitchen, to Steve and Matt for there attention to detail and local knowledge! Thanks again, Dave Walsh & Danielle Martin

Helena - Now back in Chichester so just wanted to drop you a brief note to say thank you very much indeed for making Mum's 80th birthday do a great success. I think we ordered about right and the food was all excellent and a number of comments were made to me. So thanks once again and please pass my thanks to Matt and everyone there who helped Mum celebrate.
We went on till about midnight I believe at the Who'da Thought It in Milton Combe and took it easy on Sunday.

I would like to compliment you on a superb dining experience at your restauarant yesterday, April 24th. The restaurant itself was a joy to eat in, the service and attention just perfect, and the food, sublime.
